Review of Secret Show 15th Juniper 2010 AD by Connoisseur Ross Banford:
"Having lost my Paul Foot virginity on the evening of the 15th June, I found myself in a strange new world of wonder. An excellent show. Would highly recommend to others. I did very much like meeting Penny too."
Review of Secret Show 13th Apricot 2010 AD by handsome Connoisseur Dan Weatherly:
"For Connoisseurs the Secret Show is proving to be a great opportunity to see Paul Foot at full throttle in the company of likeminded comedy lovers. And for the previously uninitiated, the Secret Show is a wonderful introduction to the world of Paul Foot as several people who had been brought along as guests of Connoisseurs discovered.
Connoisseurs who had crossed Paul Foot's palm with ten gold pounds and 95 bronze pence (or paid via Paypal) had been emailed the location and start time for the Secret Show on 13 April 2010. Those who arrived on time were welcomed individually by Paul Foot and shown to their seats. The show had been due to start at 8pm but unfortunately a few Connoisseurs were running late. Paul Foot took the opportunity to ensure the stage set up and his entrance was perfect; testing the microphone, delivering a joke whilst facing the window at an angle, and making sure that a passer-by on the street below knew when the final Connoisseur, Connoisseur Susan Berry, had arrived safely.
When the show got underway it was made up of three acts; firstly a joke, then some music, then a play.
The first act was the story of a young man whose dream it was to run a successful funeral parlour but whose hopes were dashed following a vigorous saxual liaison with a young lad who carried coffins. Some Connoisseurs in the audience wept openly during this emotional retelling, particularly when it became clear the environmental credentials of the funeral parlour were not going to be enough to save its future.
Thankfully the second act of the show was a similarly powerful and dramatic story. This time Connoisseurs were treated to a musical interpretation of Rachmaninoff's Isle of the Dead. The mouths of Connoisseurs watered as Paul Foot recounted the details of the famous barbeque that had been put on by the skeletons on the Isle of the Dead for Charon the ferryman who ferried the souls across the river Styx. Never before had a such a feast been described and as Rachmaninoff's music reached a crescendo it is possible that some of Connoisseurs may have also climaxed when the fate of the giant trifle was revealed.
Finally Paul Foot staged a play from his own mind. Given the idea by a Connoisseur who wanted to work in London's world famous Shark Laboratory, much fun was had as Paul Foot played all the characters in the play, including:
- the barman in the pub where all staff had to speak in saxual innuendo
- the barman's boss in the pub where all staff had to speak in saxual innuendo
- the barman in the next door pub where everyone spoke filthy language
- the customer in the next door pub where everyone spoke filthy language who also worked in a shark laboratory
When the evening came to end all Connoisseurs left with their souls uplifted by the evening's events and with many a story of funeral parlours, skeleton trifle and shark labs to tell their friends. If this doesn't sound like a night everyone wouldn’t want to part of then there is no hope for mankind."
Review of Secret Show 13th Apricot 2010 AD by Connoisseur Chris Collins:
"Mr Paul Foot's Secret show was a great night, loads of laughs with outrageous and hilarious humor. Throughout the show Paul consistently kept it funny till the end. I particually liked the bonus/start of the show which was really funny. lol. Towards the end of the show there was an improvised play about a camp barman who went to a shark laboratory and got his hand bitten off from a real live shark. Paul made this play very interesting with the help of the audience. Fantastic show, he's always great to watch."
Review of Secret Show 13th Apricot 2010 AD by Connoisseur Sally Lee:
"An evening with Paul Foot is not like any other comedy event you have experienced. Last Tuesday's 'secret' show for his connoiseurs (devotees to you and me) was one of the best night's entertainment I have had in London. Forget the national theatre's travelex 10 quid seats - for the same money you can sit upstairs in a west end pub and be transported into the hilarious and sometimes terrifying world of our President, mr Paul Foot. Even before the 'official' show had kicked off he had done more than many stand up comedians give you in a whole show. What a performer."
Review of Secret Show 13th Apricot 2010 AD by Connoisseur Maria Arpa:
"The show was divided into segments: pre-show, straight joke, musical joke, improvised joke each executed with the mastery one has come to expect from such a comedic cult figure. The essence of this event is in being attendant in a room full of connoisseurs thus facilitating Mr Foot to stretch his comedic talents in an 'all for one and one for all' atmosphere where the audience is not picked on to be embarrassed but encouraged to contribute. But buyers beware; being a Paul Foot Connoisseur has its drawbacks, his jokes are not repeatable; Paul Foot cannot be explained; he has to be seen to be believed."
